For our regular client in the e-commerce industry, we provide regular, synchronized transport between distribution warehouses in several European countries, including the Netherlands, Italy, Spain, and France.
The connection system was designed jointly with the client based on carefully planned time slots for loading, unloading, and transshipment.
In practice, this means that goods move between warehouses at strictly planned intervals, creating an integrated logistics network that operates in sync with production.
In this type of logistics model, every element is important. Although the plan allows for a safety margin in case of minor delays, random event such as breakdowns it can potentially disrupt the entire supply chain.
What was the challenge?
Our team faced this challenge when a vehicle operating on the Milan-Barcelona route broke down near Marseille. Some of the goods being transported were intended for further distribution as part of the so-called last mile from a warehouse near Barcelona, but the rest were to continue on to France and the Netherlands. Any delay could disrupt the workflow of several warehouses across the entire network.
What solution did we find?
The route monitoring team immediately notified the customer and began analyzing the available options.
The nearest available vehicle in our fleet was located near Turin (approx. 380 km from Marseille), but we knew that it was too far to operate alone. So we contacted our trusted subcontractor, whose truck was near Toulouse (approx. 400 km from the breakdown location).
Within minutes, we worked out a contingency plan involving the use of both vehicles. We asked the customer for a list of pallets and a breakdown of the goods: which shipments were to go to Barcelona and which had to continue on to Paris.
Within a few hours, both trucks arrived in Marseille, the drivers efficiently reloaded the goods according to the specifications, and both trucks immediately set off in their designated directions.
We effectively manage risk on a system-wide scale
Thanks to real-time coordination and cooperation between three parties – the customer, our team, and the subcontractor – there was no need to reschedule subsequent shipments.
Although some of the shipments arrived at the warehouse near Barcelona with a four-hour delay, the customer managed to prepare an alternative last-mile distribution plan. As a result, the end recipients received their orders on time.
Deliveries on time is what we do
Quick decision-making, flexible use of resources, and efficient communication ensured that no part of the supply chain was disrupted.
Shipments to Paris arrived with only a half-hour delay, which did not disrupt the schedule of subsequent transports.
Thanks to cooperation and transparent communication with the customer, an operation that could have ended in serious delays ended with only a symbolic time slip, and the entire transport model remained continuous.
Ensuring consistently smooth logistics operations
In the e-commerce industry, where the flow of goods between countries is as regular as clockwork, the ability to respond quickly and manage risk in real time is crucial. Jasek Transport has a team that not only monitors routes, but can implement a plan B in a matter of minutes – often before the customer has time to ask about the status of their delivery.
Our advantage is our extensive network of contacts in Europe, which allows us to flexibly use our own fleet and the vehicles of our trusted partners.
We combine this with the ability to communicate and plan logistics in multi-stage models that require perfect synchronisation between warehouses.
It is this flexibility, speed of decision-making and experience in coordinating international operations that allow our customers to sleep peacefully – even when something goes wrong.
