In automotive logistics, every hour counts, and unforeseen events such as ferry closures, can instantly threaten the entire supply chain.

In this case, the Jasek Transport team faced just such a challenge: a shipment prepared for dispatch to Sweden was stuck in the port of Świnoujście when the weather paralysed ferry traffic.

However, quick decision-making, excellent fleet coordination and a flexible approach kept the delivery moving.

Thanks to a quick change of plan and efficient implementation of an alternative route, the components arrived at the factory in Gothenburg right on time, even though the route was more than twice as long.

Planned delivery of components to the factory in Gothenburg

  • Type of order: full load FTL transport for a customer from the automotive industry.
  • Original route: Poland → Sweden (factory in Gothenburg).
  • Planned crossing: Świnoujście – Trelleborg.
  • Unloading slot: Tuesday, 8:00 a.m.
  • Starting point: load assembled from several smaller deliveries from Poland, Slovakia, Hungary and Germany.

Unforeseen difficulties – ferry crossings closed due to bad weather

  • The driver arrived at the port in Świnoujście on Monday morning.
  • All ferry crossings were suspended due to bad weather conditions – until further notice.
  • There was some time to spare, but there was no guarantee that the ferries would resume service in time to deliver the components before the production line was launched.

Change of plan and use of internal resources

  • The decision to change the route was made immediately after confirmation of the port closure.
  • The driver was instructed to go to the Jasek Transport warehouse in Grabina, where two other vehicles from our fleet were located.
  • The reloading of the semi-trailer with goods was organised at the warehouse – the drivers cooperated, transferring the load to each other in a manner that ensured the continuity of the route.
  • An alternative route was chosen via the Puttgarden–Rødbyhavn crossing, which remained open.
  • In addition, a contingency plan (plan C) was prepared: in the event of a weather breakdown in Denmark, the team was ready to take the full land route via the Danish bridges.

Delivery on time despite the doubled distance

Although the route was extended from 665 km (+ Świnoujście–Trelleborg ferry) to approx. 1,300 km, the delivery arrived at the assembly line exactly on time.

Production was not halted, and the customer avoided financial and organisational losses.

The customer, appreciating the commitment and flexibility, voluntarily covered part of the additional costs associated with the route change.

The operation confirmed Jasek Transport’s reputation as a reliable partner for the automotive industry, ready to act proactively even in crisis situations.

Reliable road transport is what we do

There are the reasons to work with us:

  • Experience in automotive logistics – understanding the principles of just-in-time transport and the pressure of production deadlines, where even an hour’s delay can halt the entire line.
  • Speed of decision-making – the ability to make decisions in real time, without the need for lengthy consultations, allowing us to respond immediately to unforeseen situations.
  • Operational flexibility – access to our own fleet and warehouse facilities, which enable us to reorganise routes and reload during operations.
  • Multi-variant planning – each transport has alternative scenarios (plan B and plan C), so even a ferry breakdown or route closure does not mean delivery is suspended.
  • Experienced drivers and a 24/7 monitoring team – a guarantee of safety and ongoing communication with the customer throughout the entire order.
  • Transparency and a partnership approach – open communication, rapid reporting of changes and joint decision-making with the customer – even in crisis situations.
